Course Description

The two-day course, Ergonomics Principles for Workplace Assessment and Design, will be offered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A limited number of scholarships* will be available for people from small and medium-sized Michigan companies. The course topics include:

  • Ergonomics and Office Work Station Design
  • Manual Materials Handling and its Effects on the Back and Shoulder

  • Using Universal Design Principles: Creating Healthy and Safe Work Environments
  • Conducting Ergonomic Job Analyses
  • Job Analysis Case Studies

$475.00 and includes course materials, continental breakfast, break refreshments and lunch each day.

* A limited number of partial scholarships are funded by a Consultation Education and Training (CET) Grant awarded by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). Scholarships are limited to individuals from small and medium-sized businesses (generally less than 250 employees) in the State of Michigan. Scholarships will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, with the sponsors reserving the right to limit the number of scholarship recipients from any single organization in order to serve as many Michigan organizations as possible.  The partial scholarship does not cover costs associated with travel expenses and are granted conditionally upon the receipt of a non-refundable $75 fee to defray lunch and refreshment costs. If you are granted a scholarship, you will be emailed a promotion code to receive the rate of $75.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation notification must be received no later than May 1, 2016 in order to qualify for a refund, less a $75.00 administrative fee. Substitute attendees are welcome. In the unlikely event that the program must be cancelled, the entire submitted registration fee will be refunded without further liability on the part of the organizers.

A limited number of rooms have been reserved for program attendees until April 26, 2016 at the Holiday Inn ($110/night). Please contact Holiday Inn directly at 734-769-9800 to make a reservation stating the group name “U of M Center for Ergonomics”. Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements and payment.

In the past, the University of Michigan has accredited this course as 1.2 CEUs. In past years, ABIH has awarded CM Credit for this event. Currently, it contains 12.5 hours of technical contact time and can still be claimed for CM credit.
