Diagnosis and Treatment of Low Back Disorders


Working adults commonly report back injuries to health care providers resulting in sick days, loss of productivity, and debilitation from inactivity. There is a knowledge gap amongst health care providers with patient assessments, use of diagnostic imaging, recommendations for activity level, administration of medications, and recommendations on treatments. OHN’s will gain knowledge to identify low back disorders, improve assessment of low back disorders and improve treatments for employees with low back disorder. Dr. Russell Travis, MD is a practicing Neurosurgeon in Lexington, KY. Dr. Travis graduated from University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1962 and has been in practice for 57 years. He is the current Chair of the ACOEM Evidence -Based Practice Spine Panel which recently published guidelines for low back disorders. He has also contributed to ACOEM Evidence -Based Practice Guidelines on Chronic Pain.
