Ergonomics Principles for Workplace Assessment and Design, will be offered as a hybrid virtual event. Scholarships* are available for people from small and medium-sized Michigan companies. The course topics** include:
- Analysis and Design of Jobs for Control of Upper Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders (Sheryl Ulin, Ph.D., CPE)
- Medical Aspects of Ergonomics Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (Robert Werner, M.D.)
- Ergonomics and Office Work Station Design (Teresa Bellingar, Ph.D., CPE)
- Low Back Pain and Design of Manual Materials Handling Operations (Bernard Martin, Ph.D.)
- Overview of Wearable Motion Sensing and Exoskeletons for Workplace Documentation, Analysis and Design (Leia Stirling, Ph.D.)
- Trust Dynamics in Human-Robot Interaction (Jessie Yang, Ph.D.)
- Conducting Ergonomic Job Analyses (Sheryl Ulin, Ph.D., CPE)
- Job Analysis Case Studies (Sheryl Ulin, Ph.D., CPE)
The course structure will include:
- Pre-recorded presentations available from April 27 – August 31, 2022
- Zoom Discussion sessions with the instructors and
- Digital Notes associated with all presentations.
* Scholarships are funded through a Consultation Education and Training (CET) Grant awarded to the University of Michigan by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). MIOSHA is part of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).

Continuing Education Units (CEU): This course has been approved for 1.2 CEUs.
Please note that registration is required for each attendee. Certificates of attendance will be provided to registrants only upon completion of the evaluation survey and confirming completion of all course modules.
*Scholarships: A limited number of partial scholarships are being provided by a Consultation Education and Training (CET) Grant awarded to the University of Michigan by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). MIOSHA is part of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). Scholarships are limited to individuals from small and medium-sized businesses (generally fewer than 250 employees) in the State of Michigan. Scholarships will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, with the sponsors reserving the right to limit the number of scholarship recipients from any single organization in order to serve as many Michigan organizations as possible.
Email ce.programs@umich.edu to see if you qualify for the scholarship. Include the following information: Name, Company Name, Company Address, Title, Number of Employees in your Company. If you are granted a scholarship, you will be sent a promotion code via email that will allow you to register for the course for a fee of $25.
Please attend the Discussion Sessions with the Instructors. These sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and discuss the presentation material with the instructors. Additional examples or case studies may be provided during these sessions. The Discussion Sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after the session is completed. Discussion Session Zoom links will be provided to registrants at least one week prior to each meeting.
