SUMMARY:Physical Assessment for the Occupational Health Nurse – Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:OCTOBER 8 – DECEMBER 31\, 2026 \nAccredited Provider:\nAmerican Association of Occupational Health Nurses \nJointly Provided by:\nUniversity of Michigan Center for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering \n \nThis course consists of presentations\, discussion sessions\, readings\, quizzes and  self-assessment tasks to provide the occupational health nurse with knowledge needed to assess the physical health status of individuals specific to a variety of occupational health settings. Body organs and systems to be covered include: the skin\, head\, ears\, eyes\, nose\, throat and the respiratory\, gastrointestinal\, musculoskeletal\, cardiovascular and neurological systems. Information related to collecting a medical history\, documenting findings and adherence to HIPAA regulations will also be included. \nFormat \n\nVirtual hybrid course\nPre-recorded lectures released on October 8\, 2026\nThree “Discussion with the Instructor” sessions will be hosted using Zoom. The discussion sessions will be recorded for attendees who are not able to attend the sessions synchronously.\nRecorded lectures and notes are hosted in Canvas\, a learning management system. Lectures cannot be downloaded. However\, the presentation notes can be downloaded.\nRecorded lectures\, recorded discussion sessions and notes will be available in the learning management system\, Canvas\, until December 31\, 2026.\n\nWho Should Attend\nThis program is intended for occupational health nurses or other clinicians who provide direct health care services for workers. (AAOHN) is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses\, Inc. is additionally approved as a CNE provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing (#CEP9283). This course was approved for 25.05 CNEs. \nTo complete the course and receive CNE credits\, course participants are required to: \n\nview all course videos / content\ncomplete all assignments\ncomplete and submit the final course evaluation\n\nTo receive your course certificate\, certifying the CNE credits earned\, you must indicate that you would like to receive a certificate on the last page of the final course evaluation. The course evaluation will be anonymous.  However\, when you request a certificate a new survey will be initiated that will collect your name and email address. Please note that certificates are not immediately generated. It may take up to a few weeks to receive a copy of your certificate.
