This human factors engineering training program provides hands-on user interface design experience for anyone looking to improve their organization through proven user interface evaluation techniques. \nThis course may be taken in three different ways: week 1\, week 2 or both weeks combined.  This human factors course\, now in its 65th year\, concerns the design of systems\, products and services to make them easier\, safer and more effective for human use. The first week of the course focuses on human factors concepts and is a broad survey of human factors topics important to designers and researchers. Human-computer interaction (HCI) and intelligent system design are the focus for week two\, providing an overview of these issues through workshops that lay the foundation for effective intelligent systems. SUMMARY:Physical Assessment for the Occupational Health Nurse – Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:OCTOBER 8 – DECEMBER 31\, 2026 \nAccredited Provider:\nAmerican Association of Occupational Health Nurses \nJointly Provided by:\nUniversity of Michigan Center for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering \n \nThis course consists of presentations\, discussion sessions\, readings\, quizzes and  self-assessment tasks to provide the occupational health nurse with knowledge needed to assess the physical health status of individuals specific to a variety of occupational health settings. Body organs and systems to be covered include: the skin\, head\, ears\, eyes\, nose\, throat and the respiratory\, gastrointestinal\, musculoskeletal\, cardiovascular and neurological systems. Information related to collecting a medical history\, documenting findings and adherence to HIPAA regulations will also be included. \nFormat \n\nVirtual hybrid course\nPre-recorded lectures released on October 8\, 2026\nThree “Discussion with the Instructor” sessions will be hosted using Zoom. The discussion sessions will be recorded for attendees who are not able to attend the sessions synchronously.\nRecorded lectures and notes are hosted in Canvas\, a learning management system. Lectures cannot be downloaded. However\, the presentation notes can be downloaded.\nRecorded lectures\, recorded discussion sessions and notes will be available in the learning management system\, Canvas\, until December 31\, 2026.\n\nWho Should Attend\nThis program is intended for occupational health nurses or other clinicians who provide direct health care services for workers. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, Oct 15\, 2026 \nFollowing a long tradition at the University of Michigan\, the 63rd Warren Cook Health\nand Safety Discussional is a full-day discussion with\nprominent leaders in the fields of industrial hygiene\, occupational health nursing\,\nsafety engineering\, epidemiology\, and ergonomics. Discussion sessions are directed by\nUniversity of Michigan faculty and all participants of various career stages engage in a\nhigh level of rich exchange and discussion. The Discussional offers a unique\nopportunity to safely share sensitive and critical information about issues of\ncontemporary interest with peer professionals. Recent and current participants provide\nquestions and topics of interest which are the basis for the cutting-edge discussions. \nPierpont Commons\n2101 Bonisteel Blvd\nAnn Arbor\, MI 48109\n\n\nAttendees will have the opportunity to meet and mentor industrial hygiene graduate\nstudents from the University of Michigan.
